Is coincidence that the VS Data Team and the Fox Team are run by the same guy...a former Fox developer himself?

Is it coincidence that Gene Goldhammer, after he did the dev work on Fox's Cursor Adapter, moved over to the .NET team to work on something similar? (Gene has now retired.)
