I have the same problem and I think it's by design. Some space can be saved by doing the paper cut by DLL instead of using the control font in the Report Generator.
I submitted this issue to Epson Tech Support and they sent me some DLL calls in VB which I converted to VFP. It's ugly <g>, but I can send it to you or post it here if you want it.
