This is the primary reason not to keep your backup media stored in the same building as your computers/servers. If this had been after hours with no one there to "rescue" your servers, you would have most likely lost them, but hopefully your most current backup media go home or off-site with someone every day.

>We had a fire break out next door to us last Friday at 3:40 PM. We had tons of smoke come through our area as the fire was all over one side of our bldg hitting the wall. We are grateful for a concrete block wall that kept us from losing this bldg. I ran out of the bldg with our two main servers like a mad man.
