Myron, if you want to force VFP to create a cursor instead of a filtered version of the base table, just add an extra field
SELECT *, .T. as NewField from Mytable into Mycursor
If you need a read-write version of a cursor, then USE it again. The new copy will be read-write.
use dbf('MyCursor') again in 0 alias NewCursor
