Hi Ken,

What about the licensing?

With VFP 8.0 there were some hot reactions to licensing regarding vague language about distribution on non-Microsoft platforms.

Is this language likely to be the same? Or clarified? Or dropped altogether?

>If you are not an "active" MSDN subscriber, you cannot download software as part of MSDN Subscriptions. When you buy a license to an MSDN subscription, it is active for one year. If you obtain a license to MSDN subscription now, it will be active for 12 months, then you would have to rewew it after 12 months. Also note that those who have a licensed copy of VFP 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 (and then 9.0 next year) will be able to obtain an MSDN subscription at the discounted upgrade/renewal rate rather than the full subscription rate. If you obtain MSDN subscriptions after we release VFP 9.0, then you will be able to obtain VFP 9.0 once the subscription is activated.

>When you renew the subscription, you receive access to all new and upgrade software included for the following year. But if you let your MSDN subscription expire, all products that you have a licenced copy for from MSDN remain active. For example, you can subscribe to MSDN for one year, obtain VFP 9.0, VS .NET 2003 and VS 2005, Windows versions, etc, then let it expire, and you will still be able to use all the software ongoing - you just won't get the updates and new versions. One other note is that each user/developer requires their own MSDN subscription, so it is one subscription per developer just like VFP 9.0 stand-alone. Hope this clarifies your question (and more). :)
