>I have an FPW2.6a application that is running on a Novell network that is experiencing the above error when trying to close an open file. FoxPro Help is no help at all - just refers you to the troubleshooting section and then says to call MS Tech Support. BLAH!

Make sure you have the Files option high enough in your config file for netware. I had my files set to 120 in my config.sys, but forgot about the netware config file. Both must be properly set! That is one I forgot. Concerning your illegal off-set problem: I have seen this problem on our Netawre 4.0 network when users are running FPW2.6x on a Win95 box. It is sporatic and unpredictable. The same code that produced the error will run OK minutes later. I have my guess that the problem is a conflict with a Novell NLM or VLM. I have not seen this problem when users are accessing data just from an NT server. Hope this was helpful. Steve
