Well Jim, i realy don't take issue here with the substence of your original post either way. but, in the original post you did not use the words "In my opinion...". i do agree that "I'd..." displayes the same meaning as "In my opinion".

Houston missquoted you in a way that changed the meaning of your statment, trying to make a point, trying to find out if John would still have the same stand point. but in fact you already did say it that way. i am wondering if John has noted that or also though that you wrote "I have to say that...".

>Surely you're gesting here, Gunnar.

>You don't mean to say that starting something off with "I'd have to say" is different than "In my opinion", to the point that this ridiculous discourse has to take place????... especially when the statement was followed by some logic that showed that te majority of VFP users have ONLY the VFP documentation and magazines as their 'sources'!

>>>To disagree with someone’s opinion is quite acceptable. To ask someone for evidence of a comprehensive survey of 50,000 VFP developers is infantile. David Stevenson correctly pointed out where latitude should be given but you chose to ignore the sage words. If Jim Nelson had started his post with “In my opinion” instead of “I have to say that” – I’m betting your response would have been pretty much the same i.e. puerile.
