Just out of curiosity, from a dos window, what does the command:

ATTRIB q:\lsb\pamat\data\setup.dbf

return?

Also if you attempt to create a text file and modify it in the same directory from a dos window:

EDIT q:\lsb\pamat\data\test.txt

what happens when you try to save the file? What happens if you save it, then open it again and modify it and save it? Do you receive an error message?
