The native VFP CursorToXML() and XMLtoCursor() functions are one place to start. In earlier versions of VFP a third party tool like the wwxml classlib from Rick Strahl can be used.

The MSDN documentation on the XML parser is fairly decent, and you might also check the west-wind message board and the FoxPro Wiki for XML related information.
