I was fortunate (or not) to have a mother that decided when I was 12 that her kids should see the U.S. I have traveled the entire distance and hit almost every state except for a couple in the NorthEast, and North and South Dakota.

I lived in Denver, Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette, Grand Junction, and Nederland, CO for sometime. My favorite place was when I lived at Camp Tahosa (right near to Carabou Ranch) and went to school in Nederland when I was 15. Forgot to mention that I went fishing with the Colorado University football team there when they visited. I also met the band Chicago at Carabou Ranch when they were recording :o)

My next favorite place is Oregon. Just beautiful (attended highschool there too when I was 16), then Washington state next. I love Victoria Island. I guess I favor the mountains! :o)

I've experienced numerous hurricanes in North Carolina. I was in Estes Park, CO during the Big Thompson flood of 1976. I was in Monterey, Ca (at DLI) during the earthquake in Oct of 1989. There was an avalanche when I was visiting the Zugspitz in the mid 80's and we couldn't ski. Now I'm watching Hurricane Frances carefully. I hate to wish any ill on anyone but if I'm lucky it will not hit North Carolina and instead it will pass elsewhere (hopefully out in the middle of the Atlantic). I'll pass on experiencing any other natural disasters!
