Visual FoxPro Beta
Hi there,
When you say you install your program "without installing VFP9", I assume you mean that you have installed the runtime environment for VFP 9 on these computers, but not the full development product.
If that is the case, here are the things you need to know:
1) The default values for the REPORT*.APP files as expressed in the _REPORT* variables are HOME() + REPORTOUTPUT.APP, etc.
In a distributed application, HOME() is the directory where the runtime DLLs are installed, not where your EXE is.
2) You can put copies of REPORT*.APP files where the runtime DLLs are.
You can also use a CONFIG.FPW or a line of code to set _REPORTOUTPUT and _REPORTPREVIEW to your preferred location for these files.
3) VFP will ship with an MSM file that will install the three REPORT*.APP files to the runtime support library location, which you can make part of your setup.
4) in the public beta build, the reporting features will not work particularly well with distributed apps on older operating systems. I believe this is in your release notes. It does not indicate how the released product will behave. I just want to point this out because there is really no point in your testing the report features in Win 98 in your build (in case that was your aim) - but this is not a permanent limitation <s>.
