This message has been marked as the solution to the initial question of the thread.
Sometimes the record is deleted and sometimes a filter is changed so that the record the pointer was on is no longer included in the grid. Either way, I set the recordsource property of the grid to "" and then do my deletions in the table or change the filter or perform a new query, etc. I then decide where I want the record pointer to be in the table (either on a specific record (if doing search) or at the top of the file or at the bottom of the table. Once that is done I reset the recordsource property of the grid. Following that I perform the scroll in my code so the appearance in the grid is acceptable. Typically the appearance is ok unless the record pointer is at the last record in the table in which case by default it would be the only row showing in the grid and I scroll the grid so some of the records above show in the grid.

Because that seems to be the biggest part of my problem because of the update command my pointer is moved and that seems to be messing up the display. Even when returning to the right place with a go statement.
