Not sure why that's happening -- SDT checks to make sure that new fields added to the meta data over time exist and displays this message if not, so I can see getting this message when you use the newer version, not the older one.

I don't get this one either -- SDT never writes anything to the DBC or tables; it only reads information from them.

That's stored in the Registry. You should be able to bring up the SDT Properties dialog in each version and make sure they point to the correct version of FieldRep.
