I have an app that uses an extracted data set from an AS400 database.
The AS400 is on our WAN and I would like to call up the AS400 myself,execute the query, and download this data at my convenience. Currently I have to wait for the AS400 programmers to run their process and send the file...(what a pain!). The file sent over the WAN is relatively small(it's just a refresher data-set for an existing table In my database.) My questions are: Is there a good ODBC driver that I can use to execute a query on an AS400? Will there be a speed issue using ODBC to do this. If anyone is currently accessing AS400 for this type of issue, I sure could use some ideas on how to make this work in the best manner possible.
