After your web site can able to process Credit Cards, you have the option to apply for those Online Credit Card processor, or you can have your own, just apply to your bank for merchant account if they have credit card processing terminals they will give you a unit where in you have to link from your web site to the bank and get approvals...

The flow will be, get credit card number, Name on card, expiration date from your web page cc processing and have the ability to automatically feed this info to your CC terminal, which in turn will forward the info to your merchant bank for authorization/approval. No need for gateway as the banks has to shoulder that one. Check for VeriFone/GemPlus Credit card terminals for this which you can apply for their partner programs. They have their program which you can place to your web programs.
