Steve;

WOW!

That was one of the two best vacations I have ever had! We went to Los Angeles to visit friends and relatives (our daughter goes to UCLA also) and to San Diego to visit friends and Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, where my father is buried.

My father left in 1950 and never attempted to contact us but I found (thanks to the Internet) where he is buried, plus five brothers and sisters I did not know I had! I cannot describe the feeling of what it is like to know your father is alive and you have no contact with him. We drove past his house on one occasion on our way to Mount Palomar Observatory, not knowing he had moved from Texas to California. I could write a book and in fact I am writing a book for our family members. My mom is going to be 90 in November and I will not tell her any of this - she went through enough.

I only gained two pounds in ten days of travel even after eating at Italian, Mexican, Japanese and American restaurants. I wanted to get to Alpine Village in Torrance, California, to have some German food and – you guessed it – Cheesecake! We did not have enough time to go to Alpine Village but I will make up for that!

Like Cookie Monster I love chocolate cookies (our daughter makes the best I have ever tasted!!!) but Cheesecake is at the top of my list!

By the way as of today I have lost the two attritional pounds gained by eating out during our vacation by killing my self exercising, and then starving myself to death! :)

>>Well, yes I did make a nice German Cheescake just the other day! Quark, and six eggs for the filling and a special flour from Germany with 5 eggs to make the crust. It stood about 4" high but it seems to have evaporated!
>>
>>I make up for my decadence by eating a small breakfast and lunch. And then there is German Cheesecake! :)
>>
>>A few Raspberries around the delicacy with just the right placement qualifies this work of art as “Health Food”! :)
