From what I have seen using ADO and stored procs these are the types of errors we get. I dont know of a better way to drill down into what the error is.

What we usualy do to prevent these types of errors is..

1) Set the max length prop of the text item
or
2) Make sure the text object cannot insert a value that will overrun the field by setting its width to a standard Courier New, 10pt. Size = # chars + 7 for the width of the object.
