I went thru Alicia in 1983 when it clobbered our area. And I don't think it was anywhere near Ivan's power. So yeah, I'd be scared.
Fool I was at that age, a buddy of mine and I actually drove home from a concert we worked at during the hurricane. One of the few times I've ever seen the freeways empty...things blowing everywhere, transformers exploding all over the place...had to cross a downed powerline to get to my place. You might think we were out of our minds for trying it...and yeah, you'd be right. We kinda were.
