Hi Sylvain,

Not sure, but this may relate.

I run XP Pro at home and connect thru a Win 98 computer running WinProxy using dialup.

Since SP1, and now with SP2 I notice that at startup my XP ignores input and the 98 box establishes a dialup connection. Shortly after the connection is established my XP box becomes responsive. I'm not sure what my XP is sending to WindowsUpdate since I have automatic updates disabled (I download updates at work with DSL). I have verified that it is the WindowsUpdate site by watching the WinProxy display.

I use W2K at work and have not noticed this behavior.

>Every time I start my computer, I have to wait for about 30 seconds after Windows has finished to load to be able to connect to the internet. The desktop is there, there is not CPU or disk activity and then after some time, all programs that use internet (ZoneAlarm, MSN, Network connection icon) appears and then I can connect to the internet. If I try to connect before the icons appears, nothing happens. Sometimes, Windows just freeze there and won't even shutdown, I have to reset the computer.
