Actually, California & Nevada are both in Pacific time. Then the TimeZone line makes a sharp curve to the West, carves out a chunk of Oregon, turns due East into Idaho and then North to Canada. Very strange until you look at a map showing mountains & rivers. Certainly one of the few places in the world where you can change time zones by traveling due North :-)
