I've been a big Imus fan for years, but I'm not saying that what occured is right or wrong. I didn't hear the part of the broadcast you mention (Imus radio show is no longer carried in SLC). However:
- Microsoft has almost nothing to do with managment of MSNBC. It's more controlled by NBC. Microsoft help start the network but has given up more and more control and has sold much of it's original ownership.
- Imus is actually employed by Infinity Broadcasting. Infinity has an agreement with MSNBC to simulcast Imus.
- MSNBC's ratings for Imus are higher than their competitors.
- If you want to complain, contact MSNBC
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3303518/, Infinity
http://www.infinitybroadcasting.com/contact/ or your local cable operator.
- You can also express your concern by tuning in another cable channel.
>Imus and his crew, just before the quarter hour break - were calling wives of congressional officials "skanks", and just before they went to break, they were slurring racial epiteths at Jamican survivors of Ivan.
>
>This is the "joke". The speaker is one of Imus's side kicks:
>(speaker) "A Jamican official said there is a 'blackout' [side].
>(punchline) "So a policement went out and told him to get back in"
>
>Another "... all Iraqis are animals"
>
>I can see NYC's and GE's position. Bombs bullets and Arab resources all paid for by US taxpayers. Soon our children will be drafted. And then the taxpayer will have to foot the bill for survivor benefits when the body bags comeback as they get ground up (and die) protecting 5000$/day Haliburton/CACI mercinaries.
>
>But I cannot see Microsofts position (there's a big Market over there 1.6 Billion users) - MS ain't selling bullets or bombs (i don't think).
>
>How can MS allow itself to be associated with NYC media's bloodlust racists?
>
>Reign `em in Bill - do us all a service.
