John R, another great reply on your part. Soon I will need mow the lawn with my ten year old push lawn mower. I live in the suburbs so it does not take long (about 45 minutes) with my 21 inch Honda mower.

I was told when I bought it that the mower could easily last 20 years if you take care of it. On the other hand, all of my neighbors have new riding mowers (better, faster, wider) but you know when you get close to the fence line on a hill that riding mower is slower as it is too big.

So would I not be better off to pay $2,000+ to get a state of the art, riding mower and join in the fray? No, not in my opinion. Same with Fox, sure it can't do all the same things that .NET or Java can do but hey it works for me. The nice thing is that in my area the neighbors are not out there every day telling me how stupid I am for not buying a riding mower.

I personally do not feel the need to stuff the pockets of the boys from Redmond each time they announce the next best thing. So how well does DDE, RDO, Jet or VB3 - VB6 fit in the dot NET world anyway?

Time to mow d lawn in Po Dunk America...

>>>The Fox community has got to have the biggest collection fo folks that do the same things today they did 15 years ago....

>If you are correct... so what? If it is good business, why go through the turmoil of changing it around just because people whose own business depends on "coolness" (your word) or "experts" that rely on new technology to create expertise opportunities for themselves, are promoting something different?

>Look at the POTS telephone industry. Not exactly a mom-and-pop... but it relies on truly ancient technology in many aspects, including loops installed decades ago. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. A smart business upgrades when it makes BUSINESS sense, not just because something cool and exciting is being promoted by people who make $ if they can convince you to upgrade.
