Hi neil,

>The issues with the Navision grid go way beyond speed alone. For example, it has a documented *optimisation* that disables the scrollbar until the user pages beyond the bottom record. So the net result is a user cannot tell if they have more records available or not? This is not a bug, it is documented as being by design!

I know that shortcomming. It probably has to with the fact that Navision uses filtering and does not know the record count meeting the resultset until it has gone through all records. In this light, if you look at VFPs solution, where you do see the scrollbar, but doesn't give you a clue where you are when using filters, you've got to ask what is best. To be honest I don't find their solution that bad.

And further, I've done significant amounts of work in VFP to mimic the Navisions way of adding and deleting records which I personally find very attractive: Just hit a empty cell and fill in the contents. Or deleting, just select the record(s) to delete and hit the delete key.

And how about copy and pasting. Just hit the right corner of the grid. Copy and past it into an excel sheet.

I would agree there are some bad side, but there is also a lot to learn for a VFPer in Navisions grids.
