Hi John,

That would explain why it works for you. Since I'm still on Oracle 8i it's a no go. I even tried with Sql+. This isn't the 1st time I've been bitten by that 8i-9i thing.

Guess we can write a function "DEC_TO_BIN" Then convert to string and do a SUBSTR() on it.
