In addition to Nick's recommendation, there's another one worth looking at.
While it's an older title, the book "The Pros Talk Microsoft Visual Foxpro 3: Strategic Issues for Developers" had four sections. One was an outstanding piece by Robert Green (former VFP product manager) on "Developing Client/Server Applications with Visual FoxPro and SQL Server".
There's some history on the book (either it was initially done by MS Press and then got picked up by Pinnacle Publishing, or vice-versa, I forget which). The book may still be available from Amazon. If David Stephenson sees this, perhaps he knows what became of the title. (If he is, David, weren't the individual sections available separately from Pinnacle at one point?)
However, if you can't get the book, Robert Green also has two good white papers on MSDN. Again, the material is a bit dated, but still hold a good amount of value.
