>>VFP has, at least to this point, a far far larger market (for its applications) than does .NET+SQL Server+???

>(Sorry, me jumping in two weeks late again) Is this true? Based on what? Without getting into a tool flame war, a quick look at developer community activity alone makes this almost impossible to believe - and a look at job postings ... well

Hi Charles,

Microsoft itself has stated that the market it is going after is the company with 7,000+ staff counts.
I think it's a fair guess that there are more companies having less than 7,000 staff than there are companies with 7,000+ staff.

I agree that the VFP job market and the resources available for .NET betray that .NET is blooming as VFP appears to wilt. But that's developer related and MS publicity related and has little to do with 'the market'.

I understand full well that VFP is not what it used to be. But that doesn't mean that it's dead. While the continuous publicity for .NET combined with MS' grandiose plans (being tempered of late) suggest that there is still time a plenty to continue with VFP as .NET grows up.

cheers
