I will have a new project.
My client have a file server in main office, and he had many shop at another location.
He will put few computer in every shop, and connect to main-server though internet (VPN). Then run a FoxPro application. I found that it will quite slow in operate.
The slow reason is read-write on database.

Question 1 : Is it the best way to change my .dbf to MySQL ?

I had try to install MySQL into the fileserver.
( there are some information about server > Computer name:fileabc.abc.com.hk --- Domain:abc.com.hk --- IP Address:10.0.86.2 )
Then i try to create and insert some data in the database-table.

Now i want to connect the database-table from shop.

I try to install the ODBC into shop's computer and add a connection.
I goto 'User DSN' page then ADD -> MYSQL ODBC 3.51 -> .....
But it will appear a error message 'Unknown MySQL Server Host 'fileabc.abc.com.hk'(11004)).

Question 2 : What is the correct words inside in 'Host/Server Name(orIP) ?

Question 3 : Is it correct to install ODBC in every shop's computer ?

Question 4 : Is it correct to connect with VPN ?

Finally, i am a new guy in use MySQL, where can i found more sample code for learn ?
