Actually it's not that hard to do, the trick is "impersonation".

The idea behind this concept is: when started, Your application logs in as another user. this user, lets call him "VFPApplication" is the only user who has write-access and the like (except for the administrator)

Alf Bormann (He is also a member of the UT) has written an article on that subject (I believe in one of the latest FoxTalk's) as well as in the latest FUCHS (magazine of the German Fox User Group).
