Well, we are all aware of the fact that our VFP-Files and DBC's are file based and so the ability of doing things with them depend on the rights of the user.
If You have a folder that can only be accessed by the Administrator and one single User (the VFP-App) no other User, or application and I think no ODBC-Driver can extend these rights.
You could for example create a DSN in the System-Context and let the System have readonly rights to the Folder or Tables. In this case anyone should be able to use the DSN but only with readOnly access
I did not try that but that's the way I assume it works.
