Terry,

I've had the designer get confused with references when doing this sometimes also ... when that happens I simply remove the errant reference in the project and all is well.

However, I have not been successful in sub-classing a control in the project where I’m using it and drag and droping it onto a web form. I have tried to add the controls by the same method as I do a library dll, but VS goes nuts. I have all kind of problems because the designer seems to get confused with the references. If I hack the html of a page and manually add a reference to my application project then if works. (Register TagPrefix="cc1" Namespace="mywebproject" Assembly="mywebproject")
