I'm not sure exactly what the question is. However, the shell is exposed in both the shell application object (Shell.Application) and the WSH's Wscript.Shell object. I wrote about both in the VFUG newsletter back in 2000. Both articles are available at www.vfug.org.

If those don't answer your question, perhaps you might re-phrase it more precisely.
