If you are doing n-tier design, either will be a productive once you get over the learning curve and build class libraries for common items.
If you are creating database apps with form controls bound to database fields, then VFP will be faster to create the initial app. I would say in the medium to long run the n-tier app will be easier to understand, maintain, upsize and extend though.

At this point, I would pick .NET since I need to keep up some skills from recent advanced training.
