Thanks...one final question.
I spoke to my bank, and got a quoted price of pre-printed stock that was closer to twenty cents a check. (and I realize there can be big differences). However, they would not give me a price on blank stock if I planned to use custom software to generate the MICR information...
Apparently, they require a test run, which allows them to determine what additional effort might be required on their end to read the checks, and then they come back with a quote for blank stock. It seems they want to encourage customers to use software that's on their 'approved list' (which I can certainly understand).
Ever run into that? (I'm not doubting what they're telling me, just curious if you experienced that).
