I'm not sure about your licensing options, but as for your last question...
There are various different licensing levels available, each with different requirements, so unless Microsoft knows exactly what you have, there is no way they can give you a clear answer. To further complicate things, the licensing options change all the time.
>Hello,
>The PC in which I primarily use has an OEM license for Win XP Pro. Originally, I installed 2K Pro instead, because that is what we use. So I have an OEM Win XP Pro license that is running Win2k Pro, which is kosher.
>
>Now, I installed VMWare on this PC, and I want to install Windows XP Pro on a virtual machine. Do I need to purchase another license, or can I just use my original license with both copies?
>
>Also, in the future I want to create another virtual machine with Win2K Pro. What are the licensing issues here?
>
>Why doesn't Microsoft just have a spot on it's site where you can send a question about licensing issues and get a response you are sure is correct? I would think that would cut down on unintentional piracy.
