It is webmail based - not a client like Outlook. I really like it. They do not have POP3 yet, but I was able to temporarily sign up for a couple services and get my other webmail and Outlook mail into Gmail. Easy to use, tons of space and the advertising (that they tell you about upfront) is very subtle and just in a frame on the right side of the page. No flashing windows or crap like that.
