Now I do use

hOldBrush = SelectObject( hDC, This.CreateBrush() )

which was my first intention. However because I was too blind to see the obvious this did not work.

Also works, thanks. I have added this as another option. The user (developer) now can choose between either the patterned rubber or a solid line. This can be thick or thin. I personally prefer the thiner of the latter. It looks more elegant. But tastes are different.
