Say, I never got the difference between a colosseum and coliseum straight. Are they the same thing? Why the different spelling, if they are? Or does it mean that it's pronounced "call-eyes-e-um" or "call-ease-e-um"?

It does not suffice that English is so confusing at times, it takes remainders of Latin in it to finish me off.
