When you select the TabControl, do you see anything in the Properties sheet for registered events?

What I'm getting at here is trying to make sure that your event is registered properly.

You might try cutting your event handler out of the code, and re-adding it through the Properties sheet from scratch. I would also suggest that before you re-register the event you do a quick search for TabControl in your code just to make sure that it hasn't been registered accidentally with any undesired events.
