I've taught quite a few VFP developers .NET and I'd say most feel pretty comfortable after 2-3 months of consistent .NET programming. A great book to check out is Jeffrey Richter's "Applied Microsoft .NET Framework Programming":

Honestly, I highly recommend creating an application to REALLY learn the language and .NET Framework. You'll find out pretty quickly what you don't know <g>, and the book I mentioned makes a great reference. Also, Google can be your best friend as you delve into the idiosyncrasies of .NET.
