Every month in my office we develop at least 2-3 .Net applications and 1 VFP.
I can afford to give the evaluations how fast are different languages, because we have the same apps done in both languages.
According DB the time for quering is different. According complecsity of query also. According amount of data too. And exact digits are not so important.
And for you regret I can prove you the myth. I invite you in my office to make tests.

Or something better let's Michel make a tournament like in 2002. He will give a task. The DBFs will be used for datastorage. And indipendant consultants will evaluate which lahguage how much is fastest than other.

I also suppose that here in the UT there will be many coders which will be not agree that .Net is better for web applications. But everybody have its own opinion and have right to do what he like.
In the end market give us its evaluation.
