When I have all tables on the C drive, a routine in my application takes 3.6 minutes.

When I have all tables on the G drive, the same routine in my application takes 13.1 minutes.

Note: drive "G" is a folder on the same C drive. The folder is mapped to drive "G" and shared.

Can someone explain why this is so? Is it just the act of "sharing" that explains the huge difference in processing speed?

Any insight would be welcome.

Using:
vfp7
Win XP Prof (SP2).
512MB RAM.
