I've been doing a lot of genealogy research over the past year and my one bit of advice for a product would be the need to support the gedcom format, which is the standard. This would allow data to be shared with others. For example, I posted my genealogy at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com and it allows anyone to download the file in gedcom format. The free ancestry.com software is what I used on the desktop side. I found the whole subject interesting and , not to brag, but I traced my roots (on my mother's side) back to the family of George Washington(3rd cousin) and to one of the first settlers at Jamestowne in 1607..
>Do you know of any genealogy modules available that integrate well with VFP? We want to add this functionality to our product without reinventing the wheel. We would prefer something that will integrate directly into our product. The most important thing for us is that there be a data model and functionality for handling the relationships, and it must be able to make use of our existing database of people. Family trees and other diagrams would be nice as well. If you know of something like this, I would appreciate any recommendations.
