I thought that I would give you my experiences in learning all this .NET stuff.

Last year I enrolled in a VB .NET course at my local community college. At present, I'm currently enrolled in the C# .NET course. I found taking these courses very helpful in understanding the fundamentals of .NET. By no means were these courses designed to cover everything there is to know about .NET.

Next I purchased four books--you already have one.

(1) .NET for Visual Foxpro Developers
(2) Windows Forms Programming in C#
(3) Pragmatic ADO.NEt
(4) Visual C# .Net Programming

First let me say there is no holy grail book that explains all circumstances that you will encounter. All of these books are designed to give you a jump start in getting some very simple screens up and running.

The biggest problem that I faced was ADO.NET. For me it was very difficult to learn. Even now I still don't understand it all, but I'm determined to become proficient in it.

Next, I joined a .NET users group in my area and joined a local volunteer community that creates .NET solutions for non-profit groups. I don't get paid, but I'm getting valuable experience.
