I checked class from Nigel Coates, it uses

CREATEOBJECT("MSMAPI.MAPIMessages.1")

I know, that this class works fine with Outlook, you may just use it instead of re-inventing the wheel. Check Download section here.

Your error could come, if Outlook is not properly configured...
