Sorry, then I have no more ideas. Have you tried to search for SLOW OPEN here at UT?

>>>Hi,
>>>
>>>One of our customer has a PC running windows XP. This computer is very slow in opening tables. I ran a test, one of the tables (containing just 17 records) opened in 2.20 seconds. Other tables opened faster, but still slower than expected (around 0.1 second).
>>>I measured the times over and over, and figures were remarkably constant (2.20 might occasionaly change to 2.19 or 2.21)
>>>I didn't find any reason for this in the differences between the files, so this is not caused by file size or number of deleted records.
>>>If Windows 2000 is installed on the same PC, everything runs fast.
>>>Other PCs running XP also run fast.
>>>The behaviour isn't related to virus scans either, since it occurs also when no virus scan is active (and virus scan would probably take at most just as long for a larger file)
>>>
>>>
>>>I tested a few files on a different network drive, on this drive times varied much more (between 0.00 and 0.90 for a table opening in 0.13 on the other drive).
>>>
>>>I would like to know what may cause this behaviour, and/or what happens when a file is opened. And of course how to prevent this.
>>>
>>>Regards,
>>>
