I may set up a web page as flow layout, and within that page I may have several panels, and within those panels I may place a grid layout panel (div). In the grid layout panel I can carefully layout individual controls. Then I can hide or display the panels as needed (perhaps there's a multi-tab page for example). As with all things web, it's one tradeoff for another. :)
