there is no need for samples.

A barcode reader is to your PC EXACTLY the same as a keyboard, it even connects to the keyboard input.

To generate barcode output, you need barcode fonts, or a barcode library. Personally I use BCFONTS which you can buy from Hallogram Publishing, read more at http://www.hallogram.com/barcodes/bcfonts/. All the necessary documentation is included in the package.
