It's really not a databinding issue (nor MM for that matter). The data in the dataset (regardless of whether it got there via databinding to a control or pushed in manually) will be saved whenever the save method is called on the business object containing the data. In an mmMaintenanceForm, this is done by the click event in a button. So, instead you'd just make a call the form level save method whenever you want the data to be saved (ie an event in the grid).
