>>Then you would be wrong again. There are experts in the field of music, its theory and practice, whose knowledge might be immense yet they are not players themselves. Their knowledge is no less valuable. Being able to play as well adds another dimension but does not diminish the other knowledge. On your basis I cannot have an opinion about anything which I have not done directly myself. But whatever, grind your axe with Walter ...

>I disagree. I cannot believe that there are true experts who have not practiced. Music history? Sure. The theories of notation? Yep. But not how to play. We just disagree there.

>I'm human and I know myself well enough to realize that part of my "axe," as you put it, is personal. That just causes me to respond more often to him; doesn't change my basic opinion.

Jay, re the axe - thats insightful of you. iro having an opinion - people can form an opinion by talking to others who are expert, by reading, and by study. You don't have to have direct experience of something to have an opinion.

There is a difference between claiming to be an expert on a subject (which Walter does not iro .Net) and expressing an opinion (which Walter does). I have an opinion of .Net. It is valid. I have done my homework but I have no app in production.

On top of which, Walter is clearly a well educated and experienced developer and, I should add, whose first language is not english. This whole thing has nothing to do with facts and/or opinions. It is only about emotional issues and past petty differences between certain parties. Like I said, its the same story, different day, only the level varies. But enough said. Later.
