In C/S you usually want to avoid bringing too much data over the wire. Browsing an entire table can still be practical in some cases. If the table is not too big (a few thousand records or fewer), your network is fairly fast (definitely not a WAN), and you limit the number of fields you display it's not impractical. You may want to give the user the option of viewing everything or doing a search. If they want to view everything they may just have to wait a little while.

I thought that browses go against the idea of client server and instead the user gets a sql of a few close matches....my boss thinks our users will resist the change.
